Alpha VS Beta

Alpha VS Beta

Just like many things, being an Alpha or Beta male is not black or white. Let me explain why.

First off..

The Alpha male is typically regarded to be dominant, confident, self assured, intimidating, intelligent, a leader, and a protector.

He is the guy that women are automatically drawn to. He is deemed to be more sexually attractive and generally regarded to be the ideal partner in the eyes of most women.

The Beta male is perceived to be submissive, weak, quiet, passive, and generally the weaker male from a societal standpoint.

The Beta male is thought to be the guy that is in the shadow of the Alpha, is usually passed up by women due to the appearance of the Alpha, and in comparison to his Alpha counterpart he is not considered the ideal partner.

now..

From my view of things this is not exactly true. One reason for that is because some of the women who prefer to have an Alpha male as a partner are not typically in a long term or short term relationship with a man that is considered to be an Alpha male. They may exhibit Alpha qualities from time to time which may give the appearance of one. Meaning, he is considered to be a Beta.

Another reason is the use of the word “Dominance” which is usually associated with aggressive. I’m SURE you may mean assertive. If you’re talking about aggression in a sexual manner then that is different from the overall person in itself.

Dominance comes in different forms/shades. Some may be shown in a more upfront manner than others.

The Alpha and Beta both have their roles. Being a beta is not always a bad thing and does not exactly mean that you are a weak individual. Just because you are the leader in most situations may not mean you’re an Alpha. You may be narcissistic and/or have a need to be liked. There are always tiers and exceptions of what it means to be in a certain category ( ex: to be a real man/woman).

As we have developed as a society and become more self aware of our own development or lack thereof, the lines between Alpha and Beta have been blurred and are no longer what they use to be.

Both men and women are creating this toxic masculinity that we all say we hate by continuing to perpetuate what it means to be the “ideal man” by making this area of masculinity a two way street. This causes others to act in a way that they aren’t and don’t really want to be, which may result in what you may call “toxic”. There are many ways and qualities to be considered an Alpha or Beta, and at the end of the day you may not even be considered either.

Even in a room full of Alpha males only one can lead. Are the rest now Beta males? And vice versa, Only one Beta can lead in a room full of Betas. Does that make him an Alpha?

A man is a man in his own right.
